For a team that has never been in the same room
Everyone sends one photo from wherever they are. We cut them out and split them into three. Then the team spends a week putting each other back together.

A distributed team that finally feels like one
Why it works for remote teams
On a distributed team most people are a name in a thread and a small circle on a call. New starters take months to work out who does what, and nobody wants another hour-long social call to fix it. This takes four minutes and no calendar invite. People play it between meetings, in different time zones, whenever they like. Because each person can carry a line about their role and where they are, the game quietly teaches the org chart while it is being played. The leaderboard gives the whole thing a reason to come back to it, and the link works the same in Lisbon as it does in Leeds.
How it works
- 1
Ask for photos. Send one link to the team channel and everyone uploads their own photo. Nobody has to chase files around.
- 2
Set it up. We cut each person out and split them into three. Add a role and a location for each person.
- 3
Post the link. One link in the channel. It plays in any browser, on any phone, in any time zone.
Photos that work for a remote team
Ask for a full-length photo taken at home or wherever they work - head to toe, one person per photo, taken by someone else or propped against something. Daylight and a plain wall are all it takes. Whatever they actually wear on a working day is better than a headshot, because the clothes are what make the mixing readable. Anyone who would rather not appear can be left out without it being awkward.

Questions
- Can people upload their own photo?
- Yes. You send one link to the channel and each person adds themselves. You approve what comes in.
- Does everyone need an account?
- No. Only you. Everyone else opens a link.
- Can we add new starters later?
- Yes. Adding a thirteenth person to a twelve-person game costs £1.
- Will it work on a locked-down work laptop?
- It is a web page, so yes. There is nothing to install.
- Can each person link to their LinkedIn?
- Yes. For £1 you can add a link to every person - LinkedIn, a Slack profile, a personal site. Tapping a face on the team page opens it.
- Can we lock it to the team?
- Yes. Every game includes a passcode, so you can put a passcode on the published game, so only colleagues with the code can play it.
