Privacy policy

Flipr lets you build a photo game from pictures of your team, club or friends. Because those pictures are of real people, we have tried to write this in plain English rather than legal shorthand.

Who we are

Flipr is operated by Lindon East LLP, 37 East Dean Road, Eastbourne, BN20 8EJ, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@weflip.app.

What we hold

  • Your account details: the email address you sign in with, and the sign-in method you chose.
  • The games you build: game titles, colours, fonts, logos, background images, end-of-game links and settings.
  • Photographs and the names, roles and facts you add alongside them.
  • Payment records: what you bought, when, and the amount. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
  • Play data: scores and player names entered on a leaderboard, and basic counts of how often a game is opened.
  • Technical records needed to run the service, such as error logs.

Photographs of other people

Photographs are personal data of the person in them as well as of you. So:

  • We strip location and camera information from every photograph as it is uploaded.
  • Photographs in an unpublished game stay private and are not reachable by anyone else.
  • When you publish, the photographs become viewable by anyone who has the link to that game. You can add a passcode if you would rather keep it closed.
  • We do not sell photographs, share them with advertisers, or use them to train anything.

Why we are allowed to hold it

  • To provide what you asked for: building, publishing and hosting your game, and taking payment. This is the performance of our contract with you.
  • To keep the service working, safe and free from misuse. This is our legitimate interest.
  • To meet our legal duties, such as keeping accounting records.

If you upload a photograph of someone else, you are responsible for having their agreement. Our terms ask you to confirm this each time you publish.

Who else is involved

We use a small number of suppliers who process data on our behalf:

  • Our hosting and database provider, which stores your account, games and photographs.
  • Stripe, which takes payment and acts as merchant of record for your purchase.
  • Email delivery, used for sign-in links, receipts and service notices.

If you allow analytics, Google Analytics receives visit and device information to help us understand use of the site. If advertising measurement is permitted under your cookie choices and local rules, Meta Platforms and Google receive website event and technical information as described below. We do not otherwise share your information unless the law requires it.

Where it is held

Data is stored on servers in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by the safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

  • Unpublished games and their photographs: kept while you are working on them, and removed after a long period of inactivity or when you delete them.
  • Published games: kept while the game is live. Deleting the game removes its photographs.
  • Account details: kept until you close your account.
  • Payment and tax records: kept for six years, as UK law requires.
  • Leaderboard entries: kept while the game exists and removed with it.

Deleting a photograph or a person from a game removes that image from our storage.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, limit what we do with it, or give you a copy to take elsewhere. You can also object to processing we carry out under legitimate interests.

Write to hello@weflip.app and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If you appear in someone else's game

You do not need an account to ask us to take your photograph down. Write to hello@weflip.app with the link to the game and tell us which person is you. We will remove the photograph, and tell the person who built the game that we have done so.

Cookies and similar storage

Necessary storage keeps you signed in, remembers a game you are part way through building, and stores a published game on your device so it can be played offline.

With your analytics consent, Google Analytics measures visits. Google Ads and the Meta Pixel measure page visits, the first view of a game preview, successful registration, checkout starts and successful payments, including the payment value and currency, to measure advertising results and support ad optimisation. Meta receives browser and device information, IP address, page and referrer information and advertising cookie identifiers. We do not send names, email addresses, photographs or profile details to Meta, and automatic form-data matching is disabled. Tracking is not loaded on published game or contributor links or URLs carrying private identifiers.

Where advertising consent is required, Meta tracking stays off until you accept. If your region cannot be determined, we also wait for consent. Elsewhere ordinary advertising measurement may run unless you refuse or signal an applicable opt-out. Ad clicks and impressions can still be counted by Facebook when website measurement is off.

Cookie settings lets you accept or refuse analytics and advertising separately and change your choices at any time. Withdrawal stops future reporting; it does not undo data already sent. We store a device-specific visitor reference, choice, time, region and notice version, retaining earlier acceptance evidence when a choice changes. The notice version dated 18 October 2026 describes the data, recipients and purposes above. You can also contact hello@weflip.app about your choices. Meta may process this data outside the UK or EEA under its applicable transfer safeguards and privacy terms.

Children

Flipr is for adults. You may not upload a photograph of anyone under 18, and accounts are not offered to under 18s.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date on this page and, where the change is significant, tell account holders by email.

Law

This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales.
