A leaving do better than a card everyone signed in a hurry

Why it works as a leaving present

A card gets read once. This gets played, sent to their partner, and opened again in two years when they are feeling nostalgic about a job they used to have. It costs less than the whip usually raises, so you can put the rest toward something they actually want. The trick is who you put in it. Everyone they worked with, including the ones who left before them, the one from the other office, and the person from facilities everybody liked. Finding someone unexpected in there is the moment that lands.

How it works

  1. 1

Collect photos quietly. Full length, one per person. Ask people directly rather than in the big channel if it is a surprise.

  2. 2

Upload. Add a line about each person - an in-joke, a job title, a thing they always said.

  3. 3

Send it on the day. One link. Put the QR code in the card if you are still doing a card.

Photos that work for a leaving do

Old photos beat new ones. The Christmas do, the conference, the time everyone wore the same t-shirt. Familiar beats flattering. Full length, one person per photo, crop the rest out. If the only photo of someone is bad, use it anyway - a bad photo of a well-liked colleague is funnier than a good one. Write the descriptions properly. That box is where the actual sentiment goes, and it is the bit they will read twice.

Questions

Can I keep it a surprise?
Build it and preview it privately for as long as you like. Nothing is public until you publish it.
Can people who have already left be in it?
Yes, if you have their permission. They usually love being asked.
Do they need an account to keep it?
No. They keep the link. It stays live.

Keep it kind. The line between affectionate and humiliating is obvious when you are on the wrong side of it. Our terms are clear about this and we will take down a game built to be cruel.
